Adventure Recovery is dedicated, first and foremost, to the best interests of our clients and our team. As a result, we are taking all necessary steps, outlined by the WHO and CDC, to best handle the evolution of COVID-19 and variants. By continuing our highest standards of best health practices (including personal hygiene, daily gear cleaning and disinfecting, and awareness and rigor around individual health), as well as offering unique individualized programming in low-trafficked outdoor areas, we are honored to serve the community as a positive and helpful resource.
Research shows indoor, circulated air in enclosed spaces can carry pathogens such as bacteria and viruses like COVID-19. Also, we know that escaping enclosed environments is beneficial to the immune system and overall health. Time outdoors improves overall mood and well-being.
Monitoring COVID-19
We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, daily, following new strains as they emerge. In addition, we are catering to very small groups, families, and individuals who just need to get out of the house. As the pandemic continues, we offer our Adventure Recovery Individual, Group, and Guide services to those who wish to explore their spirit of adventure and get off the couch and out of the house. Often, we are in the field one-on-one or in situations that provide ease of social distancing while allowing us to benefit from the time in nature. In addition, we acknowledge that during crises such as these, support and mentorship can be instrumental in managing stress so know that our team is here to support you and your clients during this time.
We Need to Get Outside, Now More than Ever
The research is finding that people are spending more time indoors on technology than ever before. This is especially true for teens and young adults who use devices to connect. New studies show that this excessive screen time is having a negative impact, creating habits that are not supporting mental health. Hence, adults need to positively influence one another and kids to take care of one’s self. Taking care of ourselves means getting outside, exercising, connecting with others (safely), and embracing balance in our routines. This takes effort. To apply structure to our daily activities during a time of great stress and hardship requires fortitude, modeling, and support. We model healthy behavior for each other. And we truly need this example each day to show up at our healthiest.
Adventure Recovery is taking all the necessary precautions and using our extensive knowledge of the terrain to ensure the safety of our Adventure Recovery Coaches, Adventure Recovery Guides, and, most importantly, our clients. Now, more than ever, we need fresh air. And, as populated natural locations are shut down, our relationships with private land stewards, our breadth of knowledge regarding “off-the-beaten-path” locations, and our skillfulness regarding the outdoors is key. Each day, we are adapting to the necessary shifts for time in the field. This is about being safe outside and doing what you love. If you, or someone you know, need support, please contact us. We are here.
